It’s been a little while since we chatted about my mom’s master bathroom, but I’m already back here to bring you the big master bathroom reveal!! And guys, I’m so in love with it. Even better…my mom is so in love with it!

But before we get to all of the eye candy and details, let me remind you of what we were working with when we first started this space.

My Mom’s Bathroom – The BeforeJan's master bathroom refresh before photos of the space

It certainly wasn’t “bad”, but it didn’t flow with the rest of her gorgeous condo. It was just a little builder-basic and blah and my mom was itching for an upgrade. Not wanting to rip everything out and start from scratch, we decided that we’d refresh the main area with a new sink, faucet, lighting, and mirror from Lowe’s Home Improvement, along with an antique dresser from a local shop.

If you’re looking to do a mini bathroom refresh, this is such a good way to do it. No need to always rip out all of the tile and start from scratch. Instead, make a few small tweaks that create a big impact! So let’s take a look at this beauty now…

Isn’t she gorgeous?! Even though we didn’t make tons of changes in here, it feels like a completely different space. It’s much softer and feminine.

Dresser Turned VanityTurning a dresser into a vanity

The biggest change in here was ripping out the dark brown vanity and replacing it with a dresser. As I mentioned in this post, we found this antique dresser at Megmade here in Chicago. At first, I was a little nervous about finding a stone piece to go on top because I didn’t know where I could find a remnant that small. Luckily, Lowe’s came to the rescue!Finding a stone countertop from Lowe's

My mom and I visited our local store (I feel like I visit the one in Wicker Park every single day!) and headed to the kitchen and bath department. I was a little nervous that buying a small amount of stone for a bathroom wasn’t an option, but after chatting with one of the associates (our guy, Joe!) I learned that Lowe’s sells as few as ten square feet of stone for countertops! Our project just made the cut. Yes!

American Standard Sink from Lowe's Home ImprovementWe worked with Joe and landed on Silestone quartz in the color “Desert Silver”. A week later, Lowe’s came out to measure for the countertop and two weeks after that our quartz was delivered and installed. The best part is the installation of the countertop and sink is all included in the price (which made the project so much easier for us!). They even caulked the seam where the countertop meets the wall.

We are both so happy we went with this color because it’s not too white and not too gray. Plus, it’s got warm undertones that complement the wood dresser nicely.

New Sink & FaucetBrass faucet from Lowe's Home Improvement

Because the dresser was a little slimmer than the original vanity, we needed a petite sink. I found this American Standard White Undermount Sink on Lowes.com and immediately ordered it (gotta love that free shipping). It’s the perfect size and doesn’t overwhelm the dresser at all. And it’s not a stark white. Instead, it has a creamy color to it.american standard sink and brass faucet

But it’s the faucet that I really went gaga over. This Jacuzzi Duncan Faucet in Brushed Bronze is stunning and it’s only $139! That’s a steal for a faucet, especially a gold one. It looks so high-end in the space and really elevates the entire room.

Upgraded Lighting & MirrorBrass sconce from Lowe's

Speaking of pretty brass accents, how about these sconces? I swoon. And guess what?! They’re another budget-friendly item from Lowe’s. They are the Safavieh Barrett Gold Sconces and they’re only $89 a pop. We were worried about not having enough light in this space, but because each sconce has two bulbs, they provide ample lighting for the master bathroom.round mirror before brass sconces

Between those two sconces, I added this large round mirror. Finding a mirror that was large enough for this vanity proved to be a bit of a challenge. I needed one over 30″ in diameter and luckily, I found this Better Bevel Bathroom Mirror that is 36″ across. I like that it is simple and elegant and it doesn’t take away from the brass lighting.

The DetailsTray with accessories on the bathroom counter

Now that the vanity is just a single sink there is so much room on the countertop for pretty items. This was a must for my mom, as she felt like she didn’t have enough space with the two sinks before. Master bathroom reveal with pretty accessories

Now she has room for a pretty soap dispenser, a vase for flowers, and plenty of space to do her makeup and hair in the morning.Basket with toilet paper in the bathroomI always like to add a wicker basket on the back of a toilet for extra toilet paper. Nice to have it handy and the wicker adds warmth and texture to any bathroom. White vase and soap dispenser

I found this white vase and filled it with some greenery. It actually hides the outlet on the wall and my mom can simply move it to the side when she needs to plug in the hair dryer. The soap dispenser was a find from HomeGoods.Styling a bathroom countertop

On the other side of the sink, I added a tray with some cute accessories. I always love using a cake stand when styling to add some height and easily display pretty accessories like perfume. I found this abstract print of a female silhouette and it’s the perfect addition to any bathroom. Gray rug from Homegoods

My mom wasn’t in love with her floor tile, but because we were just doing a refresh we didn’t want to rip it all out. I ended up finding this rug from HomeGoods and it goes with the bathroom design so well. Plus, it hides a big chunk of the floor tile!

Before & After

Let’s take one last look at the before and after of this room.

Master bathroom revealMy favorite part about this entire project is that we used lots of budget-friendly items from Lowe’s, yet it still looks like a designer space! I love how the antique vanity adds some charm and warmth to the master bathroom. The other items were all from Lowe’s and super affordable. It just goes to show that you can get that designer look for less.
